It’s true, we’re adopting!

its true were adopting

Dru and I are so excited to share our news with friends and family. After much prayer, years of preparation, and struggles with infertility, we believe whole-heartedly that God has called us to grow our family through adoption.

A little background…

I have wanted to adopt since I was able to participate in YWAM {Youth with a Mission} in 2005. I felt the Lord tug on my heart to one day be apart of the miracle of adoption. Dru, on the other hand, was open to it, but not sure when we would pursue it. Fast forward to 2013 and little did we know we would struggle for almost our entire marriage to conceive a biological child. Like I said, I’ve always wanted this, but didn’t really know what our road would look like. This summer, after struggling though a few infertility procedures, not resulting in pregnancy, Dru and I were at a crossroads again.

What do we do next?

What does God want us to do?

Do we do IVF?

Another IUI?

Clomid?

So many questions!

Then, the sweet sweet idea of adoption came up in our conversation while we were driving home from Mom and Dad’s house. A few days later I asked Dru if we should be praying about moving in the direction of adoption and he said that he would definitely be praying. So, from June 2013 to August 2013, we prayed.

We prayed.

And prayed some more.

We were praying separately about WHEN to start the adoption process. So it was definitely happening, we just weren’t sure about the timing of it all.

One night in August, Dru and I were talking and he asked me how my prayers were going related to adoption. I explained that my heart is soo ready to start this process and start our family. He said he was too! My heart was overjoyed, and that’s putting it mildly.

Since then, we’ve been on the phone with Lifeline, the adoption agency that we have decided to use. Many friends in Auburn and Birmingham have used this agency and have nothing but amazing things to say.

Where are we now?

We have applied and been accepted, so we are at the very beginning stages and so pumped for what’s to come.

We have our first meeting with our social worker tomorrow at 5, at our home. Please say some prayers for our nerves and that the conversation would be blessed and go smoothly.

We are so grateful for each and every prayer that has been lifted up for us and our family.

Have a fabulous Sunday afternoon… Go out and enjoy this beautiful weather!

Much love to each of you πŸ™‚

  17. Kailey,
I am so heart broken after reading your blog. I had no idea of your struggles with infertility. It’s funny I am reading/ writing this today.. Earlier this week I saw a picture of Lauren and your niece and I couldn’t help to wonder when you were going to get your family rolling… Not when you were going to have a baby… But when you would start your family…. I have chills right now….

There is not one person that I can think of that would be the perfect person for adoption… Except for you. You have always had such a huge, loving heart, and you are going to be such a wonderful mother. I am SO excited for you and Dru, and I can’t wait to follow you on your journey.

I think about all of you often… Especially when my girls act just the way your dad said they would! πŸ™‚

    Thinking of you!
